Seminar attendance is open to Shinbukan members only; if you are not a Shinbukan member but are interested in training with Kuroda Sensei, please contact us. Non-members are not permitted to attend or view this event. New members: if this is your first seminar with Kuroda Sensei, you will also need to submit a completed "Introductory Card" form and one-time nyumon (entrance) fee of $100.00 cash in addition to the seminar fee: please coordinate these things with your study group leader (do not send them to us here in Chicago). Your study group leader can also advise you what to bring in terms of equipment and clothing.

Accommodations:

If you wish to stay with a local member, we will attempt to find space for you; please indicate below (first-come/first-served).

The following hotels are unfortunately not convenient walking distance, but all are on the north side and close. Most are easily accessible by the El (train). If you are driving or renting a car, there are many more hotels downtown or near O'Hare that you may wish to consider for a cheaper rate. Please let us know if you need further assistance finding a hotel.

Seminar Fee:

We are instituting a per-session breakdown this year to reflect the actual cost of having Kuroda Sensei visit us, and to give a discount to members who can't attend the entire event. Please let us know if you have questions, and please be careful to figure your seminar fee accurately.

1. The base fee for the seminar, paid by everyone attending any part of the seminar, is $125.00. This is a contribution toward the actual event expenses paid by the hosting dojo.

2. The additional fee for each training session is $50.00. There are a total of eight training sessions: 2 each day, for four days.

3. If you are attending the entire seminar - all four days - there is a slight discount: $375.00 rather than $400.00 for the eight sessions. With the base fee, the total for the entire seminar is therefore $500.00

4. If you are not attending the entire seminar, you will just pay the base fee and for those sessions you do attend. If you are attending 2 days only, for example, that's 4 sessions. At $50.00 each, that makes $200.00 in addition to the base fee. Your total would therefore be $325.00

Thursday through Sunday:

There will generally be a group dinner each evening, location and time TBA. There will be a potluck party at the dojo on Saturday evening at 7pm (there is no charge for this if you bring a food or beverage contribution to the potluck).
