Sokeizan Daiyuzenji is a Rinzai Zen Buddhist temple that shares Shinjinkai's Chicago headquarters space. Daiyuzenji and Shinjinkai are dedicated together to providing a place where all persons may experience a deep, unified training in budo (martial arts) and Zen.

Daiyuzenji's Rinzai Zen line was transmitted to the west by Omori Sogen Roshi (1904-1994), who has been called the greatest Japanese Zen master of the 20th century.  Omori Roshi was a direct successor in the Tenryuji line of Zen, a successor in the Taishi school of calligraphy of Yamaoka Tesshu, and a teacher of Jikishinkage Ryu swordmanship.  Because of this background in martial and fine arts, his Zen integrated insights from these disciplines with traditional practice.  This style of Zen training is unique for its physicality, vitality and power.

Daiyuzenji and Shinjinkai have a cooperative and complementary relationship, with many members practicing both Zen and martial arts together.

Ongoing formal zazen (meditation) is conducted several days a week at Daiyuzenji, and open to the public. An open introduction for beginners is offered several days each week, which includes instruction in meditation. Several times yearly, Daiyuzenji conducts intensive Zen retreats (sesshin).
