Shinjinkai is pleased to support The Korinji Foundation, a not-for-profit organization working to establish a Rinzai Zen rural training center in the Chicago/Great Lakes region.
The Foundation's vision calls for the establishment of Sotekizan Korinji, a Rinzai Zen temple conducting residential monastic training. While this training activity will be the core of Korinji as a temple, further plans call for a wide and inclusive range of programs open to the public, engaging persons of many backgrounds and allowing them to experience Zen training as well as complementary activities such as traditional fine arts and martial arts. Currently promoted or planned by the Foundation are activities addressing the needs of youth, lectures and events encouraging interfaith exchange and tolerance, and programs promoting new and vibrantly relevant expressions of Zen insight adapted to the needs of today's people. Korinji is partnered with Sokeizan Daiyuzenji, an urban temple already existing on Chicago's north side.
The Foundation needs your help. A capital campaign has been initiated to finance the purchase and development of real estate on which to found a center for the Foundation's work. For more information on Korinji's vision, and how you can contribute to its fruition, please go to the Korinji Foundation's website here.
