About the event
Kumitachi (crossing swords) is a part of Shinjinkai's weapons curriculum handed down from Fumio Toyoda Sensei. Orginally performed with the bokuto (large wooden sword) these 6 paired forms, essential to our lineage of Aikido, detail situations common to the historic period of Japanese sword combat.
During this seminar we will explore the various nuances of these unique weapons forms including, but not limited to; sword strikes (why choose one, and not another?), sword blocks, body positioning, kuzushi (unbalancing) of the mind, body, and weapon; and more! Afterwards, we'll have a dojo social gathering for food, beverages, and community.
This event is open to all regardless of rank or affiliation. Beginners welcome!
