Hey Folks!

Special announcement: My wife, Tomoko, and I will be hosting a Makkoho workshop on Saturday, May 7th, from 1-3pm, at Shinjinkan Dojo. Everyone’s welcome! We meant to do this a couple of years ago. We’re finally setting it up.

The workshop will be in two halves: The first will focus on proper method for alignment and breathing in the four Makkoho poses. The second half will focus on the Hodo Taiso, or supplemental body work. This consists of the more than 30 techniques in a set routine in which folks partner together for pressure and release positions, stretches, and pelvic adjustment to relieve tension and increase blood flow and energy.

Spouses and significant others are most welcome. Please wear loose fitting clothing and bring a pair of extra socks to wear as certain techniques involve the feet. Please also bring a towel, or small blanket, and some water. The cost per person is $25.00.

Tomoko Horikawa Morganelli has studied Makkoho for 25 years and is Kaicho of Makkoho Kyokai Chicago. She holds the rank of Kyoshi through the Makkoho Hombu Dojo, in Tokyo, Japan. James Morganelli has studied Makkoho for 17 years. He holds the rank of Junkyoshi through the Makkoho Hombu Dojo, in Tokyo, Japan.
