QUESTIONS?
WHAT ARE YOUR COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS?
Our in-person classes are still on-going. To ensure the safety of every member and guest, we are strictly following -even exceeding- IDPH and CDPH protocols. As such, all classes are restricted to the following guidelines:
Members and guests are to wear masks at all times.
Person-to-person contact is limited to family members and bubble groups
Weapons (sword, staff, knife) are single person katas only
Ukemi practice is single person only
All weapons, mats, dojo reception, and common areas are cleaned at the conclusion of every class
HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER OF SHINJINKAI?
Visit us! During this initial visit we'll get you oriented to the dojo. After that you'll be free to come to Aikido, Zen, or other activities at whatever class times that fit your schedule. Following your intro class, we'll also be happy to give you information on continuing your practice as a member of Shinjinkai.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I ATTEND CLASS?
3 days a week. Martial learning is a difficult and serious undertaking. For the training to properly take hold in both the mind and body, 3 days is the minimum recommended training schedule. Of course, we understand that not everyone can commit to such a rigorous regimen in today's fast paced world, which is why classes are held 6 days a week. Pick a day, stick to it, then when you're ready, add another. Start slow and remember to practice, practice, practice.
WHERE CAN I PURCHASE A UNIFORM AND WEAPONS?
DOES SHINJINKAI OFFER PRIVATE LESSONS?
For adults or youth that learn best in this format, private classes are an opportunity to benefit directly from the insights of a master-level instructor respected worldwide for his teaching ability. Students in our group classes also benefit from occasional private sessions, to analyze their progress and break through to higher levels of achievement. In short, private instruction is an intensely focused and rich learning opportunity.
DO YOU ONLY WORK WITH CIVILIANS OR LAW ENFORCEMENT AS WELL?
Physical skills useful for prevailing in a modern threat environment are instructed by Shinjinkai to armed professionals and responsible civilians. Toyoda Sensei felt very strongly that traditional martial arts should creatively adapt and address the realities of modern violence and have instructed these skills in agency-sponsored venues to:
Federal law-enforcement agencies: FBI, IRS, Treasury Department
Numerous state, county and municipal law-enforcement agencies
US military and special operations personnel
Foreign military, government security and anti-terrorist personnel
DO YOU WORK WITH SMALL COMPANIES OR LARGER ESTABLISHED BUSINESSES?
We are also adept at constructing scenario-specific training to meet unique needs, and have instructed these skills in private venues, these include:
Situational awareness: maximizing sensory contact with the environment
Centering and respiration techniques: psycho-physical training for maintaining/regaining operational clarity
Close quarter combatives
Edged weapon tactics (fixed and folding) and defense
Firearm retention and disarming: pistol and long gun
Multiple assailant tactics
Civilian personal protection
Sexual assault prevention
